Patty + Bobby Engaged | Rancho Palos Verdes

Patty and Bobby met through mutual friends and fell in love after being together for 5 months! They got engaged in Turks and Caicos in 2010 and have been together for 6 years now! We first met Patty a few months ago during a Consultation Meeting at our home studio. We instantly knew that she was our ideal + perfect Bride and we were so excited when her a Bobby decided to proceed and book us for their Wedding Day! The planning process of an Engagement Session quickly followed!

Bobby wasn’t able to make it to our initial first meeting, so we met him for the first time during our Engagement Session. You’d think Bobby would appear a bit nervous or feel a bit stand-off-ish since we had literally JUST met… But the COMPLETE opposite is true! I’m still not quite sure who made who feel more comfortable, because all I can clearly remember is I enjoyed every minute with these two!! Their joy, laughter, and LOVE is truly apparent in the photographs below!! We could’ve photographed for hours upon hours, but the Southern California sun only lasted for so long:) Below are a few of our favorite moments captured during our time together. Congratulations Patty + Bobby! Enjoy!

Warmly,

Sammy

Nancy + Nathan Married | Sierra Madre, CA

Nancy and Nathan (also known as N+N) quickly became friends of ours during their Engagement journey. When their Wedding Day arrived at the stunningly beautiful Villa del Sol d'Oro in Sierra Madre, we didn’t walk into the day feeling like we were about to photograph the Wedding Day of Clients, but of true, life-long friends. Over the last few months, N+N have sent us such great encouraging words through texts, emails, and even in person, that we feel absolutely blessed to know them!!! Their thoughts and prayers have been an amazing source of support for us, and for that we are forever grateful! On top of them just being absolutely beautiful people on the inside, they are equally beautiful on the outside. Their Wedding Day showcased their beautiful hearts as there was absolutely no way of hiding their glow through smiles, tears, and sheer joy! They were marrying their Lover and Best Friend. We were blessed to capture it all! Below are a few of our favorite moments captured during their beautiful Wedding Day!!

N+N, we love you both! May God richly bless your new marriage from now until forever. God bless you both abundantly! Enjoy!

Blessings,

Sammy

Summary from the bride:

Planning our wedding was one of the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding experiences we've ever had. Growing up in Southern California, I always knew that I wanted to get married outdoors because of the constantly gorgeous weather. My husband was pretty easygoing and open to all of my millions of ideas, so I ended up dragging him around to several venues for various meetings and open houses. Eventually, we stumbled upon the villa and immediately fell in love with the venue for its rustic charm, elegance, romantic feel, and thoughtful architecture.

Once we settled on our venue, we then built our wedding around a central theme of playful and whimsical elegance. Although we wanted to capture and pay respect to the naturally upscale feel of the villa, we also wanted to incorporate our own lighthearted and fun personalities into the theme. With input from my supportive older sister and maid-of-honor, we decided on blush pink and mint green as our central colors, along with gold as a supporting accent color. We knew that we wanted our wedding to be very personal, so we also asked one of my closest friends from college to marry us and also utilized the talented services of some of our friends from church for hair, make-up, and videography. It was also definitely a family affair, as our wedding party was primarily composed of my three older sisters, their husbands, and my two nephews!

Our wedding was over a year in the making, but time really passed by rather quickly, considering our big day arrived before we knew it! I can say with confidence that we learned to love, serve, and help each other so much throughout the process. We spent many days and nights crafting, cutting wood for signs at Home Depot, assembling programs, putting our calligraphy skills to work, cutting fabric, pinning, gluing things, collecting rose petals, shopping, and working closely with all of our vendors to ensure that they captured our vision for the day. With all the different websites out there, we often felt pretty humbled by our self-perceived lack of creativity, but after all the DIY stuff we managed to accomplish...we actually stood back and realized we're pretty crafty when we work together as a team!

The day of our wedding could not have been more beautiful and seamless! Every detail was laid out beautifully and our vision was perfectly executed by Narimay Events. We especially loved the thumbprint tree guestbook that we had custom designed in our likeness, a vintage typewriter we borrowed from a friend, the various types of flowers laid out throughout the venue in mercury vases (particularly the hydrangeas and peonies), the millions of frames of pictures from our engagement session, and our wooden love bird cake toppers. It was an extremely emotional day for my husband and I, as we eagerly anticipated seeing each other for the first time. Our ceremony was an amazing public declaration of our ever-growing faith and lifelong commitment to each other, which we symbolized through a tree ceremony. The rest of the day passed by so quickly, but we literally tried to soak up and enjoy every single minute of it. It was truly the happiest day of both our lives; in fact, my husband still talks about how he wishes we could go back to our wedding to this day (and so does my 2-year old nephew)!!!

Sascha + Taylor Married | Malibu, CA

Sascha and Taylor met in the Spring of 2009 at a baseball party in Santa Barbara, California. Taylor played for the Westmont Warriors and Sascha was a student at Moorpark Community College. Sascha and Taylor would see each other rarely but in the moments that they caught glimpses of one another, they both made lasting impressions. So-much-so that their acquaintance would soon turn into affection, and four years later, their Love would be sealed as they declared to live in holy matrimony as husband and wife!

Sascha and Taylor are goofy, love to laugh, and have a love and passion for God. Taylor loves music, playing the drums, and umpires on his time off. Sascha loves her beagle puppy Kopi, coffee dates, and has a strong interest in learning about heaven. Together, these two are the perfect couple! We had such a blast on their Wedding Day at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California. Their day was pure, perfect, and their joy was contagious. Below are a few of our favorite moments captured on their stunning Wedding Day. Enjoy!

God bless,

Sammy

What Coffee and Creation have in common

Ever since I was a little kid, the Book of Philippians was my favorite book in the Bible. I loved how Paul LOVED this church! It was like the only church that did everything right! It’s encouraging. Full of rich truths. It’s just so good. As I grew older and began reading more, other books caught my interest and made it on my “favorites” list (Ecclesiastes, Romans, Hebrews, Esther, Genesis, Ephesians, to name a few)… But Philippians, you can say, was THE first and will always have that special place in my childhood and my heart. I went to a Bible College a few years ago for a semester and studied the Book of Philippians. It was in-depth, insightful, and what I often refer to as one of the best seasons of my life.

I was super pumped when our church began a verse-by-verse series through the book of Philippians just a few short months ago. I’ll be honest, I thought I had known every little thing about Philippians – that I was an expert, and that there really wasn’t a whole lot of “new things” I would get out of the book.

WAS I WRONG!!!

We just wrapped up the series this past Sunday and to say that it profoundly changed my life would still be an understatement! It’s actually amazing how God can often teach us – and re-teach us the same truths we have known. We often forget, don’t we? We go through different seasons in our lives and it’s incredible how Biblical truths have new depth and meaning – a passage that I read yesterday can sometimes be seen in a whole new light today. I love the relevancy of the Word of God! All it takes is one trial to see a verse in a completely new light! That’s one of the many beauties of God’s unfailing Word.

Recently, we started a weekly Home Fellowship Study at our house (alternating between a friend’s house just down the street) on Wednesday nights, and we are currently going through a video series with Matt Chandler through the book of Philippians. Last night’s teaching was LIFE CHANGING (yes, Life Changing!) There’s so much I can say about it!! After the video teaching, there’s a list of questions that Matt asks. Out of the 9 questions, there was 1 question in particular that took up most of our time, caught everyone’s attention, and really put a smile on all our faces as we truly discussed it’s richness.

The question was:

WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT STIR
YOUR AFFECTIONS FOR CHRIST?

In other words: What are the every day things – simple or majestic – that just make you stop and praise God? What moments throughout your day make you long to be with Him?

The beauty of this question is that there is no right or wrong answer. It really is personal and boundless. As we each shared, you can see the joy through each person that was expressing their particular ‘thing’ that stirred their affections for God. As I thought about it more, I decided to narrow my answer down to the first few things that came to mind, in no particular order.

CREATION

The vastness of the beach. The innumerable grains of sand. A pomegranate sunset sky. All creation proclaims the beauty, majesty, and power of the Lord. Enjoying the sights and sounds of creation, there’s nothing like it.

MORNINGS

I love mornings! Everything about them (except having to wake up super early! Haha). Seeing my almost-2-year-old sleeping so peacefully in the morning. Natalia, my beautiful wife, getting the rest she so deserves. BREAKFAST (!!)… Spending time at the kitchen table and having a delicious meal before us (Breakfast is the biggest meal of the day in our house – it really is an event). The calmness of reading Scripture and having absolutely no distractions. Mornings stir my affections towards Jesus.

TESTIMONIES

Hearing (and seeing) how God transforms LIVES really stirs my affections towards God!! God is alive and active, and to be an eye-witness of someone who was once dead but now alive through the regeneration of a new heart + life in Jesus is a remarkable sight to see.

A SONG

I love in-depth words accompanied by a melody. The richness of hymns long ago really stir something up inside of me. Josh White, from the band “Telecast” – still, after all these years, conveys lyrics and melodies unlike anyone I have yet to discover. The Rend Collective Experiments new CD, “Campfire” pretty much knocks me off my feet! I remember looking over at Natalia while listening to their CD in the car and saying, “Ok, my life is now complete. I can die happy!” …I love listening to raw, honest and genuine lyrics. It brings healing to my soul and conveys words in ways I only wish I could utter myself.

COFFEE

I know this may sound strange, but the smell of coffee really gets me! Haha! Not just the smell, but the whole experience of sitting down and enjoying a cappuccino (usually prepared with love by my amazing wife). Drinking a cup of espresso truly allows me to overflow with a feeling of gratitude towards God and all His incredible blessings. It just tastes soo good.

MY LIVING ROOM

My home and my office is a sanctuary. Often times I will find myself sitting in my living room and looking at the four walls of the space. Each wall has photos hanging on them. And each wall has a story to tell. One wall has photos from when Natalia and I were dating, just a few short inches away is a Wedding photo on a shelf, then honeymoon photos, followed by photos from our 1-year anniversary trip to Italy. On another wall are photos from Natalia’s first Maternity Session when she was 9 months pregnant with Saylah, directly below it is a photo WITH Saylah, Natalia, and I! And then a few feet over is a newborn photo of Saylah, sleeping so peaceful and innocently. My living room allows me to visually see how God has blessed my life! I love having a few minutes to spare and to just sit and glance at every photo, because it reminds me of God’s goodness. That time permits me time to stop, pray, and thank God for blessing me with such a beautiful (and underserving) LIFE. I love my living room.

There are many more ‘things’ in life that I can list. But those were some of the first that came to mind! Today, as you go about your busy day, take the time to really consider the things in life that bring you so much joy and stir your affections towards God. And if you feel inclined to, I’d love to hear your responses!

Blessings,
Sammy
